Jim Looney, President of Looney & Associates is an architect with over thirty years of experience designing projects for the hospitality industry. His offices in Dallas, Chicago and Honolulu have successfully designed over 450 hotel and resort projects for brands such as Hyatt, Omni, Marriott, Kempinski, Hilton, Fairmont and for noted companies such as Global Hyatt Corporation, TRT Holdings, Related Companies, Sunstone Realty Advisors, RIDA Development, Blackstone Real Estate Advisors and Strategic Hotels. Since its founding in 1995, Looney & Associates has completed new build hotels representing a total of 14,000 rooms with interior construction and FF&E value of $4.5 billion and the renovation of projects totaling 35,000 guestrooms with a value of $3.2 billion in the United States, Japan, UAE, China and Africa. The firm’s projects have appeared in numerous publications including Boutique Design, Hospitality Design Magazine, Hotel Business, Texas Architect, Hotel Management, and Interior Design.
Jim received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and his degree in Architecture from the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, University of Arkansas where he actively supports The James D. Looney Scholarship for students in the school’s study abroad program.
Among many of Jim’s professional and personal achievements, he was inducted into Hospitality Design Magazine’s Platinum Circle for outstanding achievement in design for the hospitality industry.
His belief in “Good work & Good works” underscores his commitment to design and support of charitable causes. In 2017, Jim was named among Southern Living’s “Fifty Southerner’s Making a Difference”.
