Jun Aizaki

Owner & FounderCREME/Jun Aizaki Architecture & Design

Originally from Japan, Jun Aizaki grew up between New York and Japan, traveling extensively with his family as the son of a journalist. His early exposure to different cultures, cities, and ways of life helped shape his curiosity about architecture and design. While studying architecture at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, Jun developed a particular interest in hospitality design and the immediate impact that physical spaces can have on people's experiences. He went on to spend five years at the acclaimed Rockwell Group, working on numerous award-winning hospitality projects before founding CRÈME in a Williamsburg loft in 2004. More than two decades later, CRÈME has grown into an internationally recognized architecture and design studio with projects spanning hotels, restaurants, residences, and commercial spaces. Jun continues to lead the practice with a hands-on, collaborative approach, encouraging experimentation and an open exchange of ideas across disciplines. His work includes 1 Hotel Tokyo, Treehouse Hotel Silicon Valley, Kimpton Hotel Theta in New York, and Sheraton Kagoshima in Japan. Across these projects, Jun draws on his international background and interest in local culture, materials, and craftsmanship to create spaces that feel connected to their surroundings. Beyond hospitality, Jun is interested in how design can address broader questions of sustainability, community, and the built environment. His Timber Bridge proposal for the LongPoint Corridor explores a new pedestrian and cycling connection between Brooklyn and Queens, while CRÈME's Gourd Project investigates the potential of naturally grown, biodegradable alternatives to disposable vessels. Jun's creative interests also extend to furniture and product design. His recent work includes Parlamento, a modular seating collection developed with Nii, a brand from Japanese furniture manufacturer ITOKI. He has a particular interest in traditional craftsmanship and working with makers to preserve techniques that might otherwise be lost.

The most memorable hospitality experiences do more than provide a place to stay. They create a sense of belonging, inspire discovery, and connect guests to the peole, culture, and stories that make a destination unique. Using One Night Only as a case study, leaders from IHG Hotels & Resorts and Crème explore the collaborative journey behind transforming three distinct lifestyle brands, Kimpton, Hotel Indigo, and Ruby, into a single immersive experience. From the evolution of the concept itself to the cultural inspiration, creative partnership, and strategic thinking behind it, this conversation examines how hospitality can create places that feel alive, meaningful, and deeply connected to the communities they serve. At a time when great design is increasingly expected, the discussion explores a bigger idea: that the greatest offering of lifestyle hospitality is access. Access to neighborhoods, culture, connection, discovery, and a sense of belonging.
